In response to the questioner's worries, the poster claims that Scheme is not a "mathematical" language. On the contrary, I think that Scheme is deeply "mathematical" and serves to show that the intersection of mathematics and programming is both accessible and enlightening.

In my experience people asking is Scheme is "mathematical" simply want to ask if they must like math in order to understand Scheme. They are not asking about the foundations of CS
