K.R. Apt: Principles of Constraint Programming
Apt's book Principles of Constraint Programming, Cambridge University Press (2003) sounds interesting, but I haven't read it. However, on Apt's web site you can find this very thorough set of slides (279 pp.) which are worth a look. Bear in mind, this is a large file to download (~2MB)!

I have a vague recollection of seeing these slides before. If this is a second time these slides are mentioned here, I apologize.

A related pointer is Christian Schulte's extensive set of lecture materials (including a full set of slides) for the course Constraint Programming (2G1515) given at KTH in Sweden during this Spring semester. All the examples run on the Mozart system.

Constraint programming has been identified by ACM as one of the strategic directions in computer science.
