Alas, many of the classics aren't online (I was looking for Landin's 1966 paper The Next 700 Programming Languages, but I don't think there's an online version).

I looked for the paper a while back but couldn't find it. Was reading about how influential Landin was in the development of Miranda and Haskell, and thought it would be interesting to see the history behind lazy functional language programming. About the closest I came was a chapter from a book that describes ISWIM.

It's online, but access is via subscription to ACM's Digital Library, or on a pay-per-view basis ($5 for ACM members; $3 for ACM student members, $10 for non-members). The URL is:

Thanks. I'll get it from there. We have an ACM DL subscription, but most online stuff is from 1984 and up, so I didn't even think of checking.
