Velocity is a Java-based template engine. It permits anyone to use the simple yet powerful template language to reference objects defined in Java code.
Aside from the obvious fact that a template engine is a language based product, the Getting Up to Speed with Velocity article talks about other points of interests like the advantages of the MVC framework, why specialized tools are important, and a bit about how Velocity is implemented.
