The Sound of Silence
I am going to be very busy until the end of the month. I am working on some paper proposals for conferences, and I have heaps of other stuff that I must take care of.

It would be great if others can post interesting stuff on LtU, while I am off doing other things.

Remember this is YOUR site. It is not mine. I just set it up.

There are plenty of interesting things in PL that I don't know about. I'd love to learn. So please share!

More on distributed objects, beans, Prolog, semantics, web. Interesting papers. Whatever.

If you read LtU, and something interests you, there's a good chance it will interst others here.

Remember that you can just post a link, if you don't have the time or the will to write something longer.

People, I want to LEARN something here. How about helping me do that?

Let me remind those that agreed to become contributing editors, that they can post stories directly to the home page, instead of using the discussion group.

Is there a feature in Manilla that would allow editors to move stories out of the discussion group and onto the home page?

Pocket Linux

The simplicity of this handheld OS is striking. It's built on top of a Linux kernel and a Java virtual machine. It uses XML as the sole file format for Personal Information Management databases and screen formats. Just to balance my enthusiasm, here's a slightly critical review.

IIRC, Manilla doesn't have such a feature.

Short of that, it might be desirable for one of the editors to periodically post links on the front page to the these discussion forum topics.

I don't think there's a way to post discussion group items to the home page. It is indeed useful to post links to DG items of interest from time time. This usually happens when one of the editors finds a thread to be of interest.

There are several other tools that may reduce the effort required to post, which is quite minimal as it is. Among them bookmarklets and things of that sort. Checking these out is on my (too long as it is) todo list, so if someone learns of anything that can be helpful, I am sure the other editors would like to hear about it.
