Proto was one of the languages discussed at the lightweight languages workshop. The site features some presentations about Proto. I found the discussion on bootstrapping interesting. The presentation about the implementation details covers some issues that arise when using C as a target language, specifically the techniques of closure flattening and lambda lifting.

booh, powerpoint files :'-(
i contacted the author to have something more visualizable on non-windows box.
Language design is hard to view too (i tested mozilla,netscape,konqueror,links)
