This paper by Robert C. Martin connects OOD principles (like the Liskov Substiution Principle, LSP; the OCP etc.) and dessign patterns (observer, abstract factory etc.). All this in the context of overall software architecture.
I, for one, find the principles very helpful in thinking about OOD. The exposition of the principles in seperate papers was useful. This integration looks interesting too.
