Uncovering Rotor -- A Shared Source CLI
(via Peter Drayton's Radio Weblog)

Rotor is Microsoft's shared source CLI implementation.

This short essay explains the general design and possible uses of Rotor.

Please don't touch the source to Rotor if you're planning on contributing to any of the open source projects (Mono, dotGNU, etc.). You're status as a clean implementor will be seriously compromised and possibly lead to tragedy when Microsoft decides to eliminate the competition.

CLI stands for Command Line Interpreter. If y'all are going to talk about Microsoft's redefinition of moderately common abbreviations, you could at least have the decency to explain what new meaning Microsoft has added to the abbreviation. In this case, the Microsoftian meaning for CLI is "Common Language Infrastructure". Which I guess means an interpreter/compiler and a runtime/library?
