Bertrand Meyer: Review of Liberty's Programming C#
The truth is I am looking for good C# books. Ordinarily I wouldn't bother the rest of you with the result, but this book review by Bertran Meyer is interesting in its own right.

Meyer explores some misconceptions that are often found in textbooks that "simply" teach some exciting new programming language. Errors that are so widespread that it takes you a minute to figure out what Meyer is complaining about.

But he is right: A good book -- whether about lambda calculus or version 6 of FrameMaker -- should have certain basic qualities: it should tell a story and tell it well, distinguish facts from opinion, provide a broad background, treat its reader as a grown-up, bring useful information. Trade books require particular focus, because the rush to market often leads to cutting conceptual corners.

Thanks that was interesting.

(Without wishing to redirect this thread) in the future we'll be able to apply this thought (to subjects other than books):

But usually we must choose between a book that’s useful and unreliable or one that’s solid and inapplicable — or, in the words of David Parnas, between “gadgets without methods and theories without applications"... It doesn’t have to be that way

The point is, of couse, that it doesn't have to be that way.

It is not this way on LtU...

By the way, if anyone is aware of a good 'software engineering with C#' book, please let me know.
