In this erlang-questions message Joe Armstrong talks about selling erlang to "suits", venture capitalists and various kinds of programmers.

Most of his comments are directly applicable to language advocacy in general.

Erlang is going strong here! Though the bit about "they fired a bunch of non-essential people a couple of years back" is being comically nonchalant about a real tragedy IMHO :-)

Suits know Lisp is some kind of wierd programming language, however they have know idea what erlang is. So there's no chance they'll suggest rewriting in C++
