This discussion, over on comp.lang.scheme, is too close to a religious war for comfort, but still contains some nuggets. It is worth skimming.
Basically it tends to focus on static vs. dynamic typing, sometimes in contexts appropriate for generic programming. Naturally, some other ideas, such as soft typing, creep in.
