Whither Flow Analysis?

In the comments to a post about CSE in Guile, NeelK mentions we need more Flow Analysis. The other day I was reading A Flow-Analysis Framework for Realistic Scheme Programs which was done in Scheme48. GHC does some fusiony stuff. What is the state of the art? Who is working on it? When will it come to a compiler / javascript interpreter near me?
