Ah ha. This will be interesting to watch. Is this going to be an IDE over an existing language or languages, or an entirely new language? If the former then I can imagine people might pay for it, but people still program Java using emacs etc. even though there are free tools around.
If the latter I'm not so sure. For a new language you'd have to build the whole ecosystem of libraries and tools that have grown up around existing languages. Then you have to convince people to bet on your success to the extent of trusting the foundation of their development to your hands.
