Of particular intest is the endorsement of Pugs, and the fact that Haskell is mentioned by name.
What is the PLT take on Perl6 and Haskell spending so much time together? Is the Perl gestalt a Walter Matthau figure? Can we view Haskell as Jack Lemon-esque? I just finished my first pass through The Haskell School of Expression, but I've never done any Perl. I'm not sure if Perl6 will successfully tempt me, either...
Well even before Pugs came along, GHC had a long relationship with Perl, in fact it still depends upon Perl IIRC.
Autrijus also spent some time with the GHC guys at the recent ICFP/CUFP, and helped hacking the GHC core to include some new features which will be really helpful in Pugs. You can read more about it here
