Quines and my mad mind

I was just reading about quines and thought the following:

An language interpreter with a subprogram to output its own source is a quine.

What is a computer emulator with a subprogram to output its own circuit diagram as instructions to a Computer Aided Manufacturing facility that makes integrated circuits.

Work together

Seems you need mechanical devices to make themselves and software to run it. It seems the hardware may exist before the software.
