-CS graduate from Washington State University
-5 years as developer at Siebel Systems (C++, CRM software development)
-1+ years at Real Networks (Lua, C++, COM). It's my work at Real that kindled my interest in languages beyond their strictly practical scope.

After spending a couple years trying out a number of CS specializations including, games, graphics, networking, etc. I've recently become very interested in language design and theory, especially minimalist but extensible languages like Lua. I'm particularly interested in dynamic, self-hosted languages and environments. Recently I've been playing with Squeak a bit.

Currently, my spare time is occupied by my Visual Studio plug-in for Lua and exploring emerging technologies in the languages domain. I'm also getting a handle on topics where I have no formal education such as virtual machines and code generation. My compilers class stopped at the AST ;-)

I also brew my own beer and play guitar when I can find the time.
