Personal information

I'm a PhD candidate in the computer science department at the University of California Berkeley. I finished my B.S. in math and computer science (minor German) at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 2002, and spent a year after that taking math courses at the Technische U. Berlin.

I specialize in parallel, scalable numerical linear algebra. I'm also interested in parallel programming languages and constructs, embedded languages, and the use of higher-level language ideas for code optimization. I'm a relatively recent convert (about two years) to Common Lisp, but have experience hacking C, C++, Matlab, Python, and a few other languages.
